After qualifying in 1996 and working for two of her Tutors in five practices across Essex and East Sussex Kate Miles honed her Osteopathic skills and learnt a great deal about how to run a business. Armed with this information plus thoughts on location the search for suitable premises began.
On 1st November 1997 the lease on The High Street, New Romney was signed and after three weeks of building and decorating work Romney Marsh Osteopaths was open for business. Initially as expected the patient list grew slowly but after one year the practice was busy enough to take on its first employee and gradually, as the demand increased, extra working days and reception staff were added to the diary.
2003 proved to be a big year, not only did we take on our first Osteopathic Assistant, who Kate met during her 18 month Paediatrics teaching stint back at her old college clinic, she also re-located the business to 39 Littlestone Road. As a consequence patients are now offered off road parking, ground floor premises, three treatment rooms and disabled access/facilities.
The move quickly proved to be very successful as we suddenly had the space to focus on building our team and therefore diversifying our allied healthcare practitioner treatment options as well as our holistic therapy repertoire.
So over the years, as well as Kate continuing to branch out by building her practitioner skills to include energy healing, MSTR scar tissue release technique, talking therapy and sanomentology, we have, as a practice continued to grow as a consequence.
During 2020 and beyond, we, like everyone else had to navigate our way through the pandemic. To facilitate this Kate, on top of being the principal practitioner, became the receptionist, a sanomentology student plus our resident upholsterer, so that all our existing cushions and chairs could easily be wiped clean between patients.
In 2023 to celebrate our 20 year anniversary here in Littlestone Road we embarked on a refurbishment project which included replacing the roof, boiler, shop signage and flooring plus repainting the whole place inside and out. So our building reflects the modern clinic it encompasses, which was also the perfect time to branch out and welcome Sports Therapy into the fold.
Romney Marsh Osteopaths is now proud to house three Osteopaths, one Sports Therapist, five Receptionists and host several other local healthcare businesses, including their numerous Therapists and Practitioners, as well as housing Kate’s additional Mind-Body Therapies.
We are always on the look out for new practitioners and therapist to join us so if you are interested in joining us then please click here to email Kate with a letter of interest and a copy of your CV or message us via our contact form.
